Topic:

HSS Connections: Software that Tackles the Hard Work

Speaker: Mr. Sam Rubenzer, PE, SE, technical advisor to the HSS Committee of The Steel Tube Institute.

The Tucson Chapter of the SEAoA is hosting a lunch presentation to discuss HSS Connections

One of the myths of working with HSS is that connections can be especially challenging. This month’s presentation is on the commercially available software for performing HSS connections that take this worry out of the equation. Connections are critical to the overall structure performance, including wide flange connections to HSS columns, HSS brace connections, and HSS beams to HSS columns. The presentation shall include:

  • Review of types of connections design and supported codes
  • Software choices and attributes of each option
  • Unbiased evaluation of connection software, including new offerings coming in 2013

Our presenter is Mr. Sam Rubenzer, PE, SE who is a technical advisor to the HSS Committee of The Steel Tube Institute.  Sam is presenting at the generosity of the Steel Tube Institute.  He has over 14 years of experience in structural engineering, including his current position as owner of FORSE Consulting, a structural engineering firm located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Prior to launching his company, Sam worked for Bentley Systems, managing the structural training team and training structural engineers worldwide on each of the RAM structural engineering software programs to promote responsible and efficient structural design.

Please join us for what is sure to be another fine presentation.
