Adhesive Anchors - So what if they don't blow out the hole?

How many times have you been out on a project inspection or just a site visit and observed someone inserting post installed anchors without blowing out the hole or without brushing the hole or without mixing the adhesive correctly.  We have come a long way with adhesives and other post installed anchor technology but there is still that dilemma of how strict to be on cleaning the hole.  How important is it anyway?

This month’s speaker, Adam Boucher - Field Engineer for Hilti, can answer that and many other questions you may have with anchors. Hilti is a manufacturer and supplier of specialized tools and fastening systems for professional users in a variety of trades.

Adam’s presentation is intended to address the following objectives:

  • Identify effects of field and loading conditions on the performance of specified adhesive anchors.
  • Examine the rigorous testing methods used by manufacturers to address various jobsite conditions.
  • Gain confidence in designing with adhesive anchors due to their suitability over a wide range of applications.
  • Explore the different installation methods per manufacturer.
  • Understand the new adhesive anchor technologies, available to specify, that improve performance and reduce installation variability.

Adam has a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering with an Emphasis in Structural Design from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. After graduation Adam worked as a Structural Designer in Scottsdale, AZ. Adam joined Hilti in 2011 as a Field Engineer where he works as a technical resource providing product education and recommendations to the Architectural and Engineering community. He also provides technical support and training to Hilti’s sales-force and customers.
